31 -28 :-(

Cleveland had a slim chance at overtime but Phil Dawson’s 52-yard (edit: apparently officially a 53-Yard) attempt was no good (I blame the offense more for failing to get a better field position). The only real high-point of the second half was an amazing 100-yard kick return (Phil Dawson extra point good) by Joshua Cribbs for our only second-half points. A disappointing 2nd half performance means we are still having to fight for a wild card playoff position. Next week’s game against the Ravens is a must-win in my opinion - otherwise we could start losing to teams that we should be beating in the final stretch of the season. Let’s hope that certain elements of the Cleveland team next week can play both halves of the game and not just one…

Divisional rivals the Ravens and the Bengals are playing right now, I would like to see the Bengals win it to make our life slightly easier and given the way the Ravens played last week that may not be impossible, time will tell.

Elsewhere in the NFL, Angus’ team, the Dolphins, lost by three points in a similar way to Cleveland - trying to scrape a field goal inside the last 2 minutes to take it to overtime. As it is the hapless Dolphins are 0-9 while the team threatening to equal their perfect season record of 1972 - divisional rivals the New England Patriots - are on their bye week with a 9-0 record. Brett Favre continues to amaze me and clocked up a staggering 351 passing yards as the Green Bay Packers completed a 34-0 blowout against divisional rivals the Minnesota Vikings. Another Miami record was equalled here - Favre became only the second player in NFL history to reach 60, 000 yards passing, Dan Marino was the first (61,361). The most annoying thing is though - Favre is even older than I am! ;-)

All in all a disappointment but not the end of the season for Cleveland by any means, let’s just hope they pull it together and learn from this game.
