About Hamish the PolarBear
Hamish is an old fart (in computer terms) trying to get in touch with the modern computing world again. The grand plan of reintegration after being a “dabbling user” for several years includes writing articles and programming properly again (learning young peoples’ programming using OOP, mainly Python at the moment).
Hamish is a Linux enthusiast, running mainly Kubuntu and the occasional (very old) Mac. Other interests in computers include chatting far too much on IRC and playing games as well as “diffling” (buggering about with my system(s)).
Hamish’s life outside of computers (yes, he has one - honest!) is mainly devoted to music: playing guitars; some keyboard playing, singing (badly) and recording himself and others on a home-studio. Hamish is also known to broadcast Internet radio shows with virtual co-host Flossie the goat. Additional behaviour of the large, hairy beast known as Hamish the PolarBear includes: reading (fantasy and sci-fi novels, physics and computers non-fiction books); astronomy with my small reflector telescope and watching movies.
Hamish is 36 years old, single (there’s a surprise for a fat, hairy computer geek
) and lives with Arthur the mouse and Albert the rat.
